Charlie Parker (J. Haldane) Just me and a pretty little gal with dark hair, sitting on the porch with Charlie Parker. Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. Never was reality starker, sitting on the porch with Charlie Parker. Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. ***All along the way she dreamed of leavin’, Forever nevermind, we’re even Steven. *‘Cause me and another little gal with dark hair, sitting on the porch with Charlie Parker. Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. She smokes, and drinks, and shoots, and gambles, driving down the road with Charlie Daniels Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. Turns out she’s running from the Angels, driving down the road with Charlie Daniels Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. ***She’s breaking out in sweats, and heavy breathing. No wedding bells, oh well, we’re even Steven *‘Cause me and just about all the others H-H-H-H-Howl like Charlie Feathers Watching while the sun grew dimmer, and dimmer, and the nighttime fell. Verse: /G/G7/C/G/ /G/G/D7/D7/ */G/G7/C/G/ /G/D7/G/G/ Chorus (***) : /D7/D7/G/G/ /D7/D7/A7/D7/D7/

You Know Whos (J. Haldane) Annie Oakley (Sophia and Grace Babb)- vocals, Travis Linville- telecaster (middle) You get knocked down a peg, You get kicked up a notch. You get knocked down a peg, You get kicked up a notch. In line for the blues, running with the You Know Whos. You got knocked on the head, you got hauled off the field You got knocked on the head, you got hauled off the field You’re bound to bruise, running with the You Know Whos. You got right with the Lord, you got left in a lurch. You got right with the Lord, you got left at the church. Just empty pews, running with the You Know Whos. *Doing who know’s what, why wouldn’t we? Like fisherman’s dreams and other lost things hiding at the bottom of the sea. Why wouldn’t we, Why wouldn’t we? Like fisherman’s dreams and other lost things hiding at the bottom of the sea. You got your junk hangin’ out, but Vogue says that it’s in. You got your junk hangin’ out, Marie Claire says it’s in. All hip to the news running’ with the You Know Whos Verse: /E/E/E/E7/ /A/A/E/E/ /B7/A/E/E/ *Bridge: /A/A/E/E/ /F#/F#/F#/B7/ /B7/A/A/E/E/ /B7/B7/B7/E/E/

Petrifried 03:04
Petrifried (Jaxon Haldane) Lydia Shelton- vocals, Ryan Jones- piano, Steve Boaz- percussion, handclaps by Jaxon, Steve, Kyle, Lydia, and Severin Olsen You’re so coy, I wanna be your boy, but you’re floating down around the bend. And I’m moaning and groaning my phone is like my only friend. You play at chaste, you love a warm embrace, but you left me for a pantywaist And I know home alone, that you’re jonesin’ for another taste. *Is there intelligence, somewhere up in Space. Cause everybody know’s there’s none here in this place. And life is lies don’t even trust your eyes, you can disconnect your internet Cause there’s nobody home, just the droning of a dying breath. You’re forty minutes late for a blue plate date at the Finnish Labour Dining Hall. So I ordered a few things to share, but then I ate them all. Cold corn grits and biscuits, I know you baby, gravy on the side. And your eggs over-easy and greazy bacon petrifried. VERSE: /A/C#/D/A/ /A/E/A/A/ *CHORUS: /E7/E7/A/A/ /E7/E7/A/E7/E7/

Hectic 03:38
Hectic (J Haldane) Jaxon- electric guitar, Kyle Reid- cigar box guitar, Steve Boaz- percussion, Rachael Brashear-organ, John Fullbright-Piano It's been a little more hectic, than I expected. I've been a little more stressed, than I can express. It's been a little more hectic, than I expected Got more demands on my time than I got time for. Got me a trade, I work slab on grade I get wild on the weekend within the confines of the Law. Feel like a slave, ten hours a day. I work more hours at my age than did my great-grandpa Got me a shack, in a modest part of town, Saved up every dollar, just to put the down-payment down. Water heater's busted, for a couple years. You get used to cold showers when you're always over 90 in arrears. My kids, god-bless ‘em, they're stuck in the system, Since their crack head ma, got in some trouble with the Law. I got a record for possession, and I battle with depression, So I've been deemed unfit by the state to even be their pa. It's been a little more hectic, than I expected. I've been a little more stressed, than I think I can express. It's been a little more hectic, than I expected Got more demands on my time than I got time for. /E/E/E/E7/ /A/A/E/E/ /A/B7/E/E/

They Don’t Build Shit To Last (J Haldane) Kyle Reid- cigar box balalaika, John Fullbright- Accordion, Well there’s vodka on your breath, and your clothes are soaking wet, and I ain’t seen you in a year, And you’re tweeting and you’re texting, and you’re loaded as a question, And I’m glad you chose to come around here. In a vintage melton blazer, looking like a razor, you’re the queen of hearts, a dollar store Dior. Blowing Smoke rings at a fan, made in the sixties in Japan Man they don’t build shit to last long anymore (x2) Well I used to have a woman, who used to be in-human, She was outta sight, and outta her mind Wrote a jingle once for Denny’s, Left me single in my twenties Went to mingle with the rest of her kind. Heard she met a guy in Chino, and they moved up to Tofino, living hand to mouth and score to score. Maybe they have since been busted, or their camper van is rusted, Man they don’t build shit to last long anymore (x2) Back in ’73, I bought a Sticky Fingers LP, I bought it on cassette in ‘84 I had the 8-track, the CD, but this MP3 See, they don’t build shit to last long anymore (x4) Intro & instrumental: /Dm/Bb-A7/ Verse: /Dm/Gm/Dm/A7/Dm/Gm/Dm-A7/Dm/Bb/A7/

Cause I wanna touch upon some things you said. ***She’s long and she’s tall, She’s got it all, She’s got it all, and that’s not all. Pretty Mona don’t you know what time it is? Arizona isn’t even opened up for biz. Manitoba only just got outta bed. Skinny Mona what about the things you said. Pretty Mona tell me don’t you wanna try? You ain’t gotta slice me off a piece of pie. Skinny Mona let me get inside your head. ‘Cause I wanna touch upon some things you said. Verse /G/G-C/G/G/ Chorus (***) /D/D/C/C/

The Page 04:07
The Page (J Haldane, K Reid) Jaxon-Saw All for the love of a song, you tried to follow along. Found your own truth in the wrong. Shaking your fate to belong. Oh all the time that you waste, and how the smile it betrays, Every tear on your face, Falling down onto the page. You heard it said in a dream, all of your life's lived between, Each little bend in the stream, Moments you take time to breathe I locked the world in a cage, they called me wild for my age, I watch the letters engage, Making their way to the page. You painted war in the nude, accurate but also skewed I got that painting tattooed It turned out painfully crude. You watched the grasshopper graze, until all the pasture was razed At least the passage it stays Forever bound to the page. / Bm / C#m7(b5) – F#7(#5) :// / Bm / C#m7(b5) – F#7(#5) / C#m7(b5 ) / F#7(#5) /

about

Jaxon Haldane Winnipeg, Manitoba

Jaxon Haldane reveres tradition, but he's no purist. His punk rock roots sprouted a love for the musical styles that branched off to rock and roll.
Bluegrass, Swing, Blues, Rockabilly, Bebop, it's all in the recipe. The result is a gumbo - rich and spicy. Earthy, yet sweet. Rustic, but refined enough that you know a real chef is in the kitchen... one who cooks with love
